A Father's Discipline: Chapter 8

We open the scene at what I can only assume is the Juvenile Delinquent facility that Junior is being held.  I don't know this for certain, because Proctor never says anything about it.  Again, we're stuck with the obnoxious style of "write only the dialogue" thing he enjoys.

"I'm guilty and could get 20 years."

That's fucking sad, guys.  I don't even want to make a joke about that.

Junior is despondent and resigned.

We finally get to hear the tape recording that Rose Ann got a phone call about in the previous chapter.  Yay--consistency!  Proctor remembered something that happened!

The "mystery man" (Junior's phrase), in the recorded phone call to Junior, calls Junior "Jimmy Boy."  This amused be because that's been my nickname for James throughout most of this damned review.

I am quite curious--who was in the know and recorded the call and how did it emerge?  It implies that the mysterious caller for some idiotic reason called the home phone of the Watkin's residence, so perhaps Senior Watkins just... records all his calls like the NSA?  It's as likely as anything else in this book.

The caller connects Junior with a big drug cartel and implicates him pretty badly.  Rosie Annie goes on to remind him of the "20 years in prison" stuff.  It sounds like she wants to make a plea deal?

Jimmy Junior knows M&M's name, but refuses to talk, despite the consequences.  In fact, he's more concerned about them tracking down who "the scum bag" is without his help than squealing.

"If his voice print is on the record, they will find out who he is."

Little too much faith in the criminal justice system, eh?  She's obviously trying to scare Junior into a confession.

As she leaves, she gets a call from *cue dramatic music* "Adam Greenlee, a private investigator."  They know who the caller was!  Don't I look stupid for my previous comment?  I'm keeping it.
